Abstract

Abstract Liturgical theology is the branch of Christian theological studies that seeks to articulate afresh the theological significance of the acts of Christian worship and to inform theologically the process of liturgical renewal in the church. As such it draws not only on the history of Christian worship and the disciplines of dogmatic and systematic theology, but also on the contributions of biblical studies that shed light both on the earliest history of Jewish and Christian worship and on the literary function of the canon of Scripture as a liturgical text.
