Abstract

Abstract Also called the Battle of Greasy Grass, the Battle of Little Big Horn is the most famous event of the Sioux Wars. On June 25 and June 26, 1876, the 7th Cavalry of the US Army battled with the Lakota Sioux and the Northern Cheyenne at the Little Big Horn River in what today is the state of Montana. Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer, commander of the 7th Cavalry, died in the battle.
