Abstract

AbstractDeep gravity anomaly was obtained from Bouguer anomaly with the technique of wavelet transform separation. Constrained by reliable prior information from other geophysical methods and using series solution of spherical harmonics, a joint inversion was carried out with respect to deep gravity anomaly in and around eastern China. As a result, the image of lithosphere bottom interface in this area was revealed. Lithosphere bottom interface characteristics and distribution pattern of strong earthquakes are also discussed. The study shows that eastern China and its vicinity is characterized by zoning with respect to geomorphic distribution, various geophysical fields and lithosphere structure. This might be closely related to the variation of the deep lithosphere bottom interface. The difference in the shape of lithosphere bottom interface will noticeably affect lithospheric motion and a series of geological processes. The distribution of strong earthquakes is also closely related to the shape of lithosphere bottom interface and tectonic environment.
