Abstract

ABSTRACT Two computerized interpretation programs were applied to a well in Jordan that penetrated formations with different lithological and sedimentological characteristics. The first program is an automatic lithofacies identification approach and is based on comparing log responses to a lithofacies data base derived from geological knowledge. The second program uses high resolution dipmeter data and outputs synthetic curves that can be used for sedimentological evaluation. The combination of log-based lithological columns and dipmeter-synthetic logs have provided an overall picture about the characteristics of the various formations.
