Abstract

The high piezoelectric coupling and high Curie point of LiNbO3 make it an excellent transducer material for acoustic measurements at high temperatures. A single-crystal plate of LiNbO3 has been used as a shear mode transducer in measuring the acoustic properties of an Al2O3 ceramic sphere up to 1050°C.
