Abstract

‘Lithium test’ was proposed by R. Rebolo et al. (1992) to tell substellar objects from low-luminosity stars. Pavlenko et al. (1995) showed that the resonance doublet of Li I λ 670.8 nm may be observed in the spectra of brown dwarfs. Recently Li lines were observed in spectra of several young dwarfs in open clusters as well free-floating brown dwarfs (Rebolo, 1998).
