Abstract

We revisit the scatter in lithium abundances among stars in the α Persei cluster. Among the factors that we examine, inhomogeneous reddening, stellar spots, and stellar surface activity are the main contributors to this scatter. Thus there is no solid evidence requiring the observed dispersion in lithium abundances to be intrinsic to the cluster member stars. Instead, the scatter is probably induced by observational effects.
