Abstract

This article describes a part of our following work that deals with lithiation or pre-lithiation process hereinafter just lithiation process. The lithiation process was employed as a treatment method used to lithiate natural graphite material. Using this lithiated natural graphite as anode (negative) active electrode material in lithium-ion cell is the main aim of this work. Lithiation process may help us to reduce irreversible capacity losses connected with the growth of Solid Electrolyte Interfaces (SEI) layer. The SEI layer form on negative electrode interface (solid-liquid) and it is always connected with origin indecomposable compound containing lithium atoms. Creation of these lithium containing compounds causes losses of capacity in lithium-ion cell. The SEI layer is compulsory for proper function of lithium-ion cell, the lithiated negative electrode material based on graphite was tested. The characteristic properties as irreversible capacity, impedance, rate-capability performance and cycle stability are examined and described in this article. The electrochemical properties and behaviour of lithiated graphite are compared with initial graphite without any treatment.
