Abstract

The process oriented management literature mentions the importance and necessity of aligning strategy and business model with the process architecture. This study investigates two research questions: wheter there is a common understanding on the definition of the concepts of business architecture and process architecture, and whether there is a concept of integration of both architectures based on the business model. To this end, a systematic review of the literature was conducted. These concepts are treated in four knowledge areas: Strategic Management aamp; Business Models (BM), Business Process Management (BPM), Enterprise Architecture (EA), and Total Quality Management (TQM). The analysis of the literature reveals that all these knowledge areas identify as one of the core concepts "The Strategy and the Processes," as well as the alignment or integration between them. However, none of the articles analyzed, offers a specific model able to define their structures and procedures for the integration of Business Architecture (BA) with Process Architecture (PA), based on a business model. The review analyses the related literature in the four areas of management mentioned, and concludes with proposals for future research work.
