Abstract

After two years' Settlement work, David Millard joined the Probation Service in 1963. Until 1976 he worked as main grade officer and Senior Probation Officer in Stoke-on-Trent. In 1968 he was given one year's leave of absence to take his M.A. (Criminology) at Keele. Together with his team, he is the co-author of 'Shelton Probation Office 1973—5' and 'Shelton 2-Papers from a working Probation Office', both of which were reviewed in the probation literature. He is now the Assistant Staff Development Officer for the Midland Region of the Probation and After-Care Service.
