Abtract The fascination of Victorians with the medium of photography is undeniable and welldocumented. What remains intriguing is the speed with which the literary culture of the period engaged photography. Photography quickly became an integral part of the Victorian publishing industry. Photographically-illustrated books were issued at affordable prices. Photographs of authors, landscapes and sites related to literary texts were actively marketed.
