Abstract
The article is devoted to the letters of dedication written by Wacław Potocki to his close women: sister-in-law Barbara Morsztyn nee Moskorzowska, daughter-in-law Aleksandra Potocka nee Rościszewska and Teofila Rejowa nee Gorajska. Despite strong conventionalization of the works and their genetic similarity, his poetic offerings demonstrate the individualism of the realization, reveal high literary and artistic values. The paper addresses several issues: 1. the poet’s attitude to tradition – dedication as a literary phenomenon; 2. the paratextual character of the dedication – its relation to the work that it precedes (was to precede); 3. the structure of the work – addressee, thematic scope, topology.
