Abstract

Zusman offers much-needed insight into the relationship between systemic bias and the control and dissemination of false narratives. As well as articulating the impact of narrative change, Zusman provides a step-by-step guide for an innovative arts-based research methodology that uses oral history, visual arts, and storytelling to uplift and amplify authentic community voices. Case studies elucidate how this process promotes social justice and community transformation by creating a space for healing and perception change while also providing nuanced, community-driven qualitative and quantitative data that informs policy and systems change.
