Abstract

In putting this issue together, various authors needed information contained in the list of theme, date, location, conference chair, attendance, presi dent, and membership regarding national NACADA conferences. We used former presidents’ and other individuals’ incomplete sets of conference program books to generate the list. We think this information about the conference could be useful to a variety of individuals. Many of the 275 people who attended the First National Conference on Academic Advising had a sense of the importance and urgency for finding a voice for academic advising. At the time, they did not know how successful they would be. After 2 years of organizational activity, the first member ship drive in 1979 yielded 429 charter members. As of this writing in April 2009, 15 of the original charter members are still on the roll.
