Abstract
Amaç: Lise son sınıf öğrencilerinin sosyal hizmet mesle-ğiyle ilgili görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Yöntem: Çalışma Ankara’da bulunan altı lisede 450 (301 kız, 149 erkek) son sınıf öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde frekans dağılımı (f) ve ki- kare (χ2) analizleri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin yarıdan fazlasının (%62,4) sosyal hizmet mesleği ile ilgili bilgisi yoktur. Büyük bölümünün (%94,7) okullarında meslek tanıtılmamıştır. Yarıdan fazlası (%59,6) mesleğin toplumdaki imajını düşük bulmaktadır. Bü-yük bölümü (%69,8) üniversiteye giriş sınavında sosyal hizmeti tercih etmeyi düşünmemektedir. Tercih etmeme nedenleri ara-sında ilk sırada mesleğin toplumda değerinin anlaşılamamış olması yer almaktadır. Sonuç: Mesleğin tanıtıldığı okullardaki öğrenciler, mesleğin toplumdaki imajının yüksek olduğunu düşünenler üniversiteye giriş sınavında bölümü tercih etme eğilimindedirler. Öneri: Liselerde mesleği tanıtıcı etkinliklerin düzenlenmesi, mesleğin toplumdaki imajını yükseltici çalışma-lar yapılması önemli görülmektedir.

Summary
The purpose of this work is to determine the views of the senior high school students on the department/profession of social work. As for the reasons not selecting this department to study one can disclose it is a socially undermined profession (21.6%), it has a low image in the society (16.0%), it is a stressful job that affects one’s family live (11.1%) and it has a huge load of work with tremendous responsibility (9.6%). Stating a contrario; male students; students who do not have knowledge on the profession, students who do not have a social worker acquaint; students whose thoughts have been grew negatively about the job; students who think the social image of the profession is low, students who do not see social work as a profession of the future are unlikely to choose this department to study in the university
