Abstract
Thorium is quantitatively extracted with 4% Amberlite LA-1 or LA-2 in xylene, from 0.01 M malonic acid medium at pH 3.0 and stripped from the organic phase with 1 M hydrochloric acid, then determined spectrophotometrically at 545 nm as its complex with thoron. It is separated from other elements by selective extraction and stripping.
