Abstract

Data on (liquid + liquid) equilibrium in (dimethyl phthalate + water), (diethyl phthalate + water), and (dibutyl phthalate + water) have been measured by direct analytical methods over the temperature range (283 to 323) K. Gas chromatography and spectrophotometric methods have been employed to determine the composition of the organic substances in the liquid phases. The water content in the organic liquid phases has been measured by means of the Karl–Fischer titration. A new l.l.e. measurement cell which allows samples to be analysed more easily and more precisely was constructed. The experimental data have been fitted by means of the modified Wilson equation using the maximum likelihood method.
