Abstract

Liquid-liquid equilibria (LLE) data for a quaternary mixture of methanol, Dimethyl carbonate, toluene and water were measured at 298, 308, 318 K and atmospheric pressure. The distribution of methanol and dimethyl carbonate in the organic phase and aqueous phase were searched. Experimental tie-line data reliability of the quaternary mixture was validated using the Othmer-Tobias and Bachman correlation method. This experimental data were correlated with the nonrandom tow-liquid (NRTL) and the universal quasichemical activity coefficient (UNIQUAC) model. The interactive binary parameters of these two models have been reported. Both models successfully correlated experimental data.
