Abstract

EXAFS measurements have been carried out for supercooled liquid and glassy CdRb(NO3)3 on the Kedges of both Cd and Rb by utilizing the synchrotron radiation. The radial distribution function around a Cd cation shows the broad peaks corresponding to an oxygen atom at 2.3Å and to a nitrogen atom at 3.8Å. The first peak of radial distribution function around a Rb atom is found to be at 2.7Å, which gives a relative distance between Rb and neighboring oxygen. When the supercooled liquid is transformed to a glassy state, the number of the nearest neighboring atoms around a Rb cation substantially increases in contrast to that around a Cd cation.
