Abstract

Microemulsion liquid chromatography (MELC) is a relatively new mode of liquid chromatography, which utilizes microemulsions as the mobile phase. The unique solubilizing capability of microemulsions makes them as suitable as sample solvents and mobile phases for a range of charged, neutral, water-soluble and water-insoluble compounds. This article looks at the separation principles of MELC, method development and optimization parameters and recent applications of MELC.
