Abstract

period ending December 31, 2011. The time interval between screening episodes was also recorded. The data was analyzed using Microsoft Excel software. Results: Of the 3394 co-tests ordered for 3394 patients with negative initial Pap results, 3173 (93.4%) were HR-HPV negative, 173 (5.0%) were HRHPV positive and 65 (1.9%) showed equivocal HPV testing (Table 1). Among the 3173 women who had initial dual-negative results; 2228 patients had 3938 repeat Pap tests performed during the study period, with 2101 of them being repeat co-tests. The number of repeat Pap tests and repeat co-tests are displayed in Table 2. Nine hundred thirty nine (939) repeat co-tests were performed within two years of an initial negative co-test, accounting for 44.7% of the repeat co-tests within the study period. The repeat Pap tests for all patients with an initial dual-negative co-test resulted in the following cytologic diagnoses: 3331 no squamous intraepithelial lesion or malignancy (negative), 127 Atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS), 45 Low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions and 9 High-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions. The dualnegative patients received a total of 621 follow-up gynecologic biopsies.
