Abstract

Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers (LAr TPCs) are ideally suited for the study of neutrino interactions thanks to their combination of scalability and precision detection capability. In this talk I will highlight work in the development of this technology at Fermilab, focusing on the details of the ArgoNeuT project and the MicroBooNE experiment. ArgoNeuT is a 175 liter LArTPC that was recently operated in the NuMI beamline, and MicroBooNE is a 90 ton LArTPC that will begin operations in the Booster neutrino beam beginning in 2013. I will conclude with preliminary ideas for the ultimate LArTPC experiment that could be conducted at the Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL) in South Dakota.
