Abstract

The solid residues of a cellulose liquefaction process were examined by thermogravimetry-mass spectrometry (TG-MS). The thermal decomposition of the residues obtained at different liquefaction conditions (temperature and residence time) was studied. The solid residues originated from the low, middle and high temperature regions of the liquefaction processes exhibit highly different behavior. The comparison of the TG-MS curves of 15 residue samples led to a deeper insight into the reactions of the liquefaction.
