Abstract

Background and Aims: Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) and elevated Lp(a) level [hyperLp(a)] as hereditary disorders of lipid metabolism are the main cause of the development of atherosclerosis and CHD. Autoimmune reactions can be involved in atherogenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the contribution of hyperLp(a) and autoantibodies (autoAbs) against Lp(a) in the development of CHD in patients with potential FH under the age of 60 years.
