Abstract

The brief volume Lipid Metabolism and Atherosclerosis edited by D.W.K. Cotton reflects the usual variability of submissions to an international symposium. The strengths of the volume are in the wide variety of areas covered, in the concise summary style of the authors, and in the more informal speculation which surfaces characteristically in the published free discussions. The weaknesses of the volume are more a reflection of the metier than the estimable authors, and are characterized by a considerable number of under-referenced sketches of topics with no real depth of reflection or reasonable balance of conflicting currents in the field.
