Abstract
It has been proposed that a decrease in membrane integrity might play a significant role in the deterioration of pollen and in the germination capacity, which can be related to losses of viability |1|. In the pollen cell a strong biosynthesis of reserve and membrane lipids take place during germination and tube growth |2, 3|. The work described here attempts to follow the viability of olive pollen by studying their lipid content and biosynthesis at maturity and during germination process.
