Abstract

An efficient method for producing linked-cluster series expansions is illustrated by calculating a sixth-order series for the free energy of the spin-one Heisenberg model with an easy-axis single-ion potential which is treated exactly. This method makes use of the multiple-site Wick reduction process in a computer algebra system. A description of the method is given, and then a sixth-order series for the susceptibility in the paramagnetic phase for general lattice and magnetisation series for face-centred cubic, body-centred cubic and simple cubic lattices are presented.
