Abstract
The article is focused on the study of the linguistic and cognitive aspect of the binary concepts of Security/Insecurity in the modern media discourse. Media discourse is a cognitive and pragmatic environment that is formed by creating and disseminating evaluative meanings and ideologies for a wide audience, so media messages inevitably affect the perception and interpretation of Security/Insecurity concepts in the new realities. The purpose of this study is to identify the linguistic nominations and peculiarities of the functioning of binary concepts Security/Insecurity in the modern media discourse, as well as to reveal their modes. The novelty of this work is that the results of this research will help to better understand the mechanisms of influence of media messages on the formation of the SECURITY frame and the INSECURITY ontology in the minds of recipients. The study analysed the functions of the semantic dominants of the SECURITY/INSECURITY concepts and the ways of their translation and perception in mass media. Thus, we presented the linguistic nominations of the concept Security/insecurity represented by the modern media as frame modelling according to S. Jabotynska with the help of networks of basic frames and illustrative means of verbalising the constituent slots.
