Abstract
The inner aspect of the mandible often shows multiple lingual foramina. These are always found in the midline, but paramedian, lateral, and posterior lingual foramina can be observed frequently. Most of these lingual foramina present with lingual bone canals entering the body of the mandible conveying vascular and/or neural structures. In fact, blood vessels and nerves running through these lingual canals often form anastomoses with neurovascular structures from the mandibular canal and its branches.
