Abstract
The understanding of hip-spine relations involves a systematic analysis of the sagittal posture in a standing and sitting functional situations to deduce the consequences on the acetabular orientation in the 3 frontal, sagittal and transverse planes. The current evolution of ideas is pushing hip surgeons to move beyond the paradigm of a “static safety zone” and instead looking for each patient's “functional safety zone” based on a thorough preoperative assessment of spinopelvic motion.
