Abstract

The paper discusses the design and engineering of the lineterminating equipment at an electronic exchange using the pulseamplitude modulation system. The exchange will form part of the existing public network of lines, and to cater for the various types of line connection involved, a number of different designs of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment is necessary. Descriptions of the equipment associated with the more important of these lines are given, together with details of the circuits used and their electrical performance.
