Abstract

A theoretical analysis is made of the linear development stage of the stimulated emission in a traveling-wave ring solid-state laser with a passive switch in order to identify the main characteristics of unidirectional stimulated emission. These include the spectral distribution of the strong forward wave field and the dependence of the suppression coefficient on the resonator parameters. An explicit expression is obtained for the suppression coefficient which can be used to calculate the scattering and unidirectional stimulated emission establishment time for specific experimental conditions. The dependence of the spectral composition of the emitted radiation on the spectral selection in the passive switch is explained.
