Abstract

Alternatives to fast Fourier transformation using the linear prediction z-transform method and the Padé rational approximation method are discussed. These two closely related methods can be used to obtain a phase-sensitive spectrum with enhanced spectral resolution and reduced noise. Similarities and differences between the Burg maximum entropy method and the linear prediction extrapolation are discussed.
