Abstract

Azides R-N3 (R = aryl, acyl, cyclohexyl), react at -30°C spontaneously with the diaminostannylene 1 to give the distannadispiro[3.1.3.1]decanes 2 and 3, or with the diaminogermylene 4 to give the digerma analogues 5. The dispiro[3.1.3.1]decane systems, with an unusual linear combination of three four-membered rings, were fully characterized by X-ray and other spectroscopic methods. 4 gives, with 2 mol phenyl azide, the germatetrazoline 6, whose structure is also evidenced by X-ray spectroscopy.
