Abstract

Abstract The effect of the sweep velocity of an applied magnetic field on the magnetization behaviour of ferromagnetic polycrystalline nickel is theoretically interpreted on the basis of the linear anelastic mechanical model of Voigt. The experimentally observed creep magnetization using a step field and the magnetization time lag using a sweep field are thus interconnected. On the basis of these results, a loopless anhysteretic magnetization and demagnetization curve of a ferromagnetic material is predicted and discussed.
