Abstract

Abstract We synthesized three bithiophene based organic luminescence materials named as 5,5′-bis(p-N,N-dimethylaminostyryl)-2,2′-bithiophene (BMSBT), 5,5′-bis(p-N,N-diethylaminostyryl)-2,2′-bithiophene; (BESBT) and 5,5′-bis(p-N-carbazoylstyryl)-2,2′-bithiophene (BCSBT). Their single-photon excited fluorescence locate in the range; of 520–530 nm with the quantum yield around 20%. When excited by 200 fs laser pluses, these compounds can emit strong two-photon excited fluorescence. The two-photon absorption cross sections of BMSBT, BESBT and BCSBT are detected to be 54 × 10−50, 102 × 10−50 and 124 × 10−50 (cm4 s)/photon respectively.
