Abstract

The response of vortices to an ac excitation field (∥ c) has been investigated in MgB 2 single crystals in both linear and non-linear regimes. Those high quality crystals exhibit very weak critical currents : J c (H=0.1 T)∼ a few 10 3 A/cm 2 at low temperature. The field dependence of J c is discussed in terms of the collective pinning theory. The Campbell penetration length (deduced from the linear response) varies linearly with H at low field as predicted for intra-valley oscillations for non-interacting vortices.
