Abstract

We consider a planar grating and partially filled dielectric as slow wave structures for a low-voltage electron sheet beam, moderate power Cerenkov amplifier. The small signal growth rate for both slow wave structures with partially filled sheet beams are evaluated. The results are compared at 35 and 60 GHz. We find that both configurations offer attractive and comparable gain at relatively low beam voltages and can be developed as moderate power sheet beam sources.
