Abstract

Experiments support the hypothesis that the continuous X-ray spectrum arises from a coherent electron scattering by a crystal lattice. Structure is observed in the spectrum which is interpreted as evidence that some sharp lines are present in the spectrum due to the periodic nature of the scattering potential, although the intensities are too weak to permit resolution of individual lines.
