Abstract

Linaria semnanensis is described as a new species discovered in Semnan Province. This newly discovered species is compared with its closest relatives L. grandiflora and L. dalmatica. The new species is similar to L. grandiflora in bract size, stem height and seed form and differs in leaf width, capsule size, adaxial lip sinus of corolla, style length, the length of testa cell and ornamentation of the seed coat. L. semnanensis is similar to L. dalmatica in capsule size, seed shape and size and differs in corolla, spur, pedicel and calyx lobe size, stem height, length of adaxial lip sinus of corolla, distance between apex of adaxial lips of corolla, testa cells shape and ornamentation of the seed coat. Information about the species’ morphology, micromorphology, habitats and distribution is provided.
