Abstract

An applied procedure for elastoplastic analysis, and results of determination of limiting plastic loads for a pressure vessel with a branch pipe under a combined loading are presented. The analysis is performed with the use of the finite-element method, shell theory, plastic-flow theory, and initial-stress method. A new method based on the criterion of maximum rate of increase in relative plastic work is employed to determine limiting plastic loads.
