Abstract

Storage rings dedicated to synchrotron radiation research should meet various parameter requirements; high flux, high brightness, short bunch length, etc. Although these couldnot be realized simultaneously, the storage ring lattice should be highly flexible and be capable of undergoing changes in the optics according to a specified requirement. In actual operation there are various errors in the machine parameters. Whether we can reach the estimated design performance on the beam parameters is very much dependent on the effectiveness of the correction system, especially when very small beam size and very high stability are required. Therefore, we have checked our storage ring in this respect by computer simulation, and have revealed what the actual limitation on the beam size is in the Photon Factory storage ring.
