Abstract

We measured the intensity dependence of the second harmonic efficiency of femtosecond pulses. The maximum conversion efficiency was 15% and 21% for pulses of 100 fs and 180 fs duration. A saturation and drop of the conversion efficiency was observed which is attributed to a reduction of the phase-matching bandwidth at high intensities.
