Abstract
A global limit load solution for off-set embedded cracks in plates under combined tension and bending is derived based on the net-section plastic collapse concept. From this new solution, other global limit load solutions for plates with surface cracks, extended embedded cracks, extended surface cracks and through-thickness cracks can be obtained. The new limit load equations are compared with some limit load solutions available in the R6 procedure and in the literature.
