Abstract
Attention is given mainly to the practical applications of the limit design theorems. In order to show how the plastic design methods may be useful in mechanical engineering practice numerous examples are presented. A number of solutions presented below have not been published before. Much less attention is given to the theoretical background of the methods of plastic design, because it may be found in any monography devoted to the mathematical theory of plasticity.
