Abstract
As the political climate in the United States continues to polarize its residents, colleges and universities find themselves creating safe spaces for their students to explore new ideas in order to feel free from physical or emotional harm during this process. In this conceptual essay, I argue safe spaces are necessary, deemed 21st century incubators, as the invent of social media and immediate, instantaneous Internet communications have rendered the U.S. sociopolitical environment a dangerous, and potentially unsafe, one.
