Abstract

The light-response characteristics of organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) based on solution-processed triisopropylsilyl (TIPS) pentacene is analysed. X-ray diffraction measurement confirmed that the ultraviolet (UV) ray destroys the TIP pentacene crystalline structure and under a steady-state light illumination, OTFT showed a high current modulation, which suggests that OTFT based on TIP pentacene is a promising candidate for a low cost and high performance photo-sensing element for digital applications. Furthermore, results suggest that a proper UV-protective passivation layer must be integrated to enhance the reliability of the organic transistor.
