Abstract

Current density distribution in conductive composite materials under lightning impact was studied. Calculation estimation of stress in material area near lightning channel shows that mechanical properties investigation under impacts of microseconds duration is needed. On the example of carbon fiber composite with conductivity ∼103 1/(Ohm•m) magnetic pulse method of magnetic pressure forming was applied to determine dynamic tensile strength and fracture energy. It is also shown that magnetic field with amplitude of induction ∼12 T does not influence the mechanical properties of carbon fibre composite
