Abstract

In the present paper, recent optimization technique so-called Lightning Attachment Procedure Optimization (LAPO) is proposed to solve the Optimal Power Flow (OPF) problems. The aim of OPF is defining the optimal setting of the operating decision variables of the electrical power system (active power generation, terminal voltages of generators, the transformer tap and the shunt VAR compensators) in order to achieve various objective functions (such as minimization of the fuel cost, minimization of line losses, minimization of voltage deviation and enhancement of voltage stability) within the equality and inequality constraints of the system. To validate the proposed LAPO, it has been tested on the IEEE 30-bus test system. The obtained simulation results demonstrate the performance of LAPO in OPF problem solution compared with other robust techniques.
