Abstract

We evaluated one-photon absorption light-induced self-written (1PA-LISW) waveguide formation using near-infrared wavelength continuous wave (CW) laser light. It offers an alternative approach to the conventional optical interconnection method that requires two-photon absorption polymerization using a high-power pulse laser. We used a combination of diimonium dye and a CW laser light with a wavelength around 1070 nm through a fiber to form the LISW waveguide. A waveguide core of maximum length of 1 mm was realized based on 1PA-LISW process.
